Was looking into converting an automobile that I had to electric and decided that lead/acid batteries would be most suitable for my purpose since I don't need long range or high speed. One thing that's needed is maintenance programs to rebuild batteries. Trouble is, with present EV's they are difficult to get at with many components that must be tested or replaced. Saw a video on rebuilding the battery on a Chevy Volt. Even though I have changed engines and transmissions on cars, it's not a job for me or most other DIYer's. These batteries are more trouble than they are worth right now. Further development is needed, until then, I will consider lead/acid or "Edison" batteries.
