Buried face down.
poking around i found βaccording to H. P. Lovecraft the pulp writer of the twenties aqnd thirties, burying a corpse face-down was an indication that the corpse was the worst kind of witch, and woe befell those who turned them the "right" way and unstaked them from the casket.β
And generally scanning archeological sites, and putting 20 seconds of research into this, it seems that being buried face down is unthinkable.
so there is that.
I don't know about witches, but it was a technique definitely used for vampires. They placed the body face-down figuring that at night when it tried to rise, it would dig downwards instead of up and thus never escape the grave.
