You could have posted some updates on what's happened so far.

or

You could have posted what you believe should be done and how to do it.

or

You could have posted research on other people's efforts.

or

You could have posted a more SPECIFIC question to be discussed along with your answer in the comments.

You could EVEN say you're VERY pessimistic about this being fixed in time for midterms ... IF you included ANY ONE of those things and it wouldn't necessarily be dooming.

But you didn't do any of this.

You just told us what should be on the front page without doing ANYTHING about it except complain it might be dooming.
