My wife and I went thru fertility treatments when I was in the military. I was lucky enough to be stationed near Bethesda Naval (which I guess is now part of Walter Reed?). At the time we were there Bethesda was doing fertility treatments for anyone who needed them because they needed the practice to be able to help wounded military members as they came back from Gulf War 1.

They did a special operation on my wife and it worked - she got pregnant. Better yet, it was twins (they run in my family). Unfortunately as the pregnancy moved through the 1st month one of the twins started to shrink, then there was no heartbeat, and he just disappeared. I say "he" because even before she got pregnant I told the doctor we were going to have a blonde-haired girl and a red-headed boy. The blonde-haired girl made it. My wife was in and out of the hospital her whole pregnancy but it was worth it in the end.

Because of complications through that pregnancy we decided to not try again, and did foster care for a long time. We started looking to adopt a baby, and when we were just trying to find an agency one of our foster kids that had run away a few years before showed up at our house with his sister and a baby girl. She had one child already and did not want another, and her brother out of the blue told her to take it to us because he said we were good parents. We had his sister and the baby stay with us for a few weeks while we worked everything out with the court, and adopted her baby about 21 years ago.

She is the daughter that is pregnant, and the scare today brought back a whole bunch of stuff we thought we left behind from our experiences at Bethesda. That was hard, hence the prayer request.
