Great post! As a Veteran ive struggled with depression previously. Its a hard thing to overcome yourself and you should not feel afraid to ask other vets to be someone to talk to. Talking to other veterans helped me overcome my personal struggles.
There is nothing wrong with saying, "ive been to some places, ive seen some shit, i need someone to decompress with." Please seek help.
Being a veteran is one of the few reasons i have a tiny social media presence, so others i served could always reach out if need be.
I've found that civvies find it hard to understand that getting out is a relief and a letdown at the same time.
Yep. I was a hardcore adrenaline junky when i got home. I kept pushing the envelope on motorcycles when i got back. It took a while but i eventually learned to accept that I'll never get to experience the adrenal dumps i was craving again.
Same here. Most guys I rode with were ex mil, some current. It was more than adrenaline, it was belonging.
Motorcycle > Drugs
My adrenal dump is cannabis and gaming now.. wtb a skydiving buddy
YOU HAVE SAID A MOUTHFUL...I didn't know just how people are so-so when dealing with issues of Veterans that they think it is just something to live with, like an ingrown toe nail...
...you exhibit the courage which many only aspire to....
May God bless you and continue to use you as a light that guides the lost to a safe harbor...
