I remember my first Disney movie: The event was a big deal: big screen, lots of kids filed into seats by parents, popcorns, eskimo blocks, cokes etc. And parents nipped out to get beers from the next-door bar.
It was Bambi (showing my age here)
I was traumatised by the lonely baby in the woods - tears, and my parents took me home.
Rinse Repeat: Dumbo the elephant.
Same thing happened to my kids:
Some well-meaning parent put on a video of the Lion King for my kids and theirs. We were making a coffee in the kitchen, nek minute:
All 4 kids were crying, after the scene of death and destruction 5 minutes in.
We switched it off, and pulled out the Legos, and I have never seen the rest of those movies.
...there are no coincidences....
...and don't forget Peter Pan...
...the perpetual youngster living in a world sans adults....
