I haven’t seen this discussed anywhere, and maybe it’s because it is obvious to americans or maybe it’s because I got this all wrong, anyway:
After the midterms I suppose we all expect the Republicans to gain seats in both congress and the senate. If it truly is a tsunami, a red wave like never before; sixty seats in the senate and a majority in congress is at least what I expect.
Then Biden will become a lame duck, a president with no real power. Republicans in congress can come up with whatever they like, and Republicans in the senate will just pass it. Is Trump even needed to turn things around at that point? I belive things will change fast after the midterms.
Ok, that explains it, seemed too easy. Thank you! 🙂
Congress can override a veto by passing the act by a two-thirds vote in both the House and the Senate. (Usually an act is passed with a simple majority.) This check prevents the President from blocking an act when significant support for it exists.
Given that we are supposed to enjoy the show, those two years when nothing can happen seem pretty boring. Makes me think we don’t have to wait two years for Trump’s comeback.
