Don't persuade, just ask them questions.
Case in point, my friends all took the bait about the new Italian PM.
"Her party's motto essentially makes them mussolini's party 2.0."
"How? What exactly does SHE say, not her party? Trump was hated by republicans RINOs and Bernie is a socialist, clearly the party isn't everything. Have you listened to any of her speeches?"
Silence
You can't tell people the truth unless they want to hear it. Coming to you for answers is a part of their waking up process, but none of us are the reason they wake up; coming to us will be a byproduct. Everyone will get exposed to a lie they cannot explain away and it forces them to ask questions. The MSM is the boy who cried wolf, they can't get away with it forever, eventually one of the lies will kick a person in the teeth and they won't be able to ignore it. I gave up on trying to wake people up once I realized this.
"Warn them a storm is coming, then get back to building your boat." They'll never believe you until it starts raining, so just build your boat. You'll have the last laugh, even though it will be pitiful to watch, as they drown under the weight of the truth.
