Basically because they are christians and conservatives, and are russian descent and russian speaking peoples that Kiev's corrupt/libbies/nazees are harassing/trying to eliminate and telling them they must stop speaking russian and be like Kiev. Obum and his cronies installed corrupt leaders in 2014 and the government has been persecuting them ever since.
