According to the Talmud (a jewish scripture), it's permissible for jews to give their children to molech as long as the child isn't passed through the the fire.

It's like they saw the verse that said "You are not to sacrifice any of your children in the fire to Molech" (Leviticus 18:21).... and found a loophole -- "hmmm. it should be okay to sacrifice kids to molech as long as they're not passed through the fire".
