Sorry, but this difference can be explained by weight loss, aging, continued hair loss and multiple cosmetic surgeries, including laser resurfacing. I have studied surgical techniques for years (I find it fascinating) and scored in the 90% percentile in the FACE Facial Recognition skill testing years ago.
I can immediately identify actors in movies who are wearing disguises, wigs, or other camouflaging techniques. I can immediately recognize people I haven't seen in years and identify the correct gender in trans people or others who are switching up their gender.
Years ago, I went to my 25-year class reunion and was able to recognize every single person who attended (I was in a class of 1200 and 150 showed up). I simply refreshed my memory of their names & faces the day before by looking through the old SENIOR yearbook.
In my opinion, this is the original Joe and he looks different because he is now OLD, SKINNY, DECREPIT, and has had the following procedures at least once:
~ Upper and lower face lift
~ Neck Lift
~ Upper & Lower Blepharoplasty
~ Laser peel
EXAMPLES: Joe has large facelift scars in front of his ears. He has the distinctive beady eyes/squinty eyes from an under eye laser + a blepharoplasty that causes the outside corner of the eye to close up a bit, narrowing the eye opening. He has horizontal pull marks from his temples to his hairline from a too-aggressive skin tightening. This is also causing his eyes to angle upwards slightly.
His changing ear lobes are due to the facelift. They have to sever the earlobe and reattach it after the excess neck and face skin is removed. The ear lobes are stitched back to the neck and can look different afterwards.
His smoother, less spotty skin is due to a full-face CO2 laser peel.

This is my opinion, and I'm sticking to it!
Since when do (inserted) President's of the United States need more cosmetic surgeries than Michael Jackson??
I think he looked more normal and less ghastly before his cosmetic surgeries.
