I think it's because as a child they were taught this brainwashing and they have never used critical thinking to look at it.

Usually it's their parents belief too so it takes them out of their comfort mummy and daddy granny and grandad and jesus and god love you zone ..

Then too they have been promised if they say the words I accept Jesus as my saviour they get to sit at the right hand side of him and god..a free pass to live in heaven eternally for saying a few words.

The naivety would make you weep!!!
