They talk as if democracy cannot be authoritarian, and that fascism is not inherently democratic / populist. It comes from the Latin fasces and represents the idea that while individual voters are weak, they can bundle together - ie democracy - to force their will on the minority. Fascism is simply authoritarian democracy. Or more simply fascism is democracy. They’re the same thing.

Leave it to fascists to construct a straw man. There is no federal election for POTUS. States appoint electors, the electoral college votes for President. The federal elections are for representatives of the house and (now) senate.
