I get a phone call every few months offering me a free upgrade to a smart meter so I can get a little usage monitor and I don't have to read my meter.
I always ask them if I can get my new smart meter removed if I no longer want it. they say no, so I say no.
My water company in the UK tried a really low trick recently, they said they would upgrade the lead pipe to the property for free because it's more modern and safer to have plastic (is my water not safe then?) In the small print it says I have to have a usage meter on the new pipe when I don't have one now.
I was wondering whether to agree to be upgraded from lead but to refuse the meter to see what they say. I think they would leave me with lead pipes because the real reason for the upgrade is the meter.
Once we are all on meters, the globalists can start their credit scores on who uses what resources. The elites are exempt of course.
For the first 10 years after I moved here, I had to report the meter reading every month. Then one day the electric company showed up and replaced it with one I didn't have to read. I didn't think anything about it because smart readers weren't really on the radar at that time and in all my previous homes I didn't have to report the meter readings (15 years). My electric company is a rural coop, so I'm hoping they were just upgrading themselves and that I don't have a smart meter.
I consider myself a bit of a slow learner. I used to be open and trusting but I've got very suspicious over the years and that has stood me in very good stead.
They have offered something similar to this is Austin for about 10 years -- we'll give you a Nest thermostat for free, but when it gets hot outside, we can regulate the temperature in your house. It gets HOT in Texas, only fucking idiots got one.
The UK is beta testing for big brother essentially. TV LICENSES?!?! CCT on every corner. 2 steps away from rationing

Thanks, that's kind.

Pity it has to be that way.
