Israel is God's firstborn among the nations. He first gave them a covenant. Just like the story of Jacob and Esau Jacob lied/cheated his way into God's blessing. God did make His original covenant with The Israelites but the new covenant that Jesus brought was of more significance than the old covenant. The people of God are those that choose to be his children no matter what country they are born in. On top of that many of the Jews don't even have Hebrew lineage but are actually Austrian/German.
