What do they expect, they have no long term delivery contracts, like us utilities have with gas suppliers, and like Germany used to have with Russia.
They need to make long term deals to get a good price, they should do,so now.
Price speculation.
The same happens to oil.
From the article meant to scare people......"LNG volumes in so-called floating storage globally hit 1.4 million tons on Sept. 2, the most in two years".
So that means that 2 years ago, before the Russia Ukraine skirmish, there was more LNG stored in the floating storage. This would mean that it is normal to store large supplies of LNG prior to winter, why? Because demand goes up in the winter, and companies want to sell more gas in the winter to make more money. DUH!
There is nothing unusual about what is going on, except Bloomberg can use the article title as click-bait to get people to read their articles.
That is called capitalism at work. There will be a great need, so there is a profit motive to make a big supply in order to make gobs and gobs of money.
If you decide that they shouldn't be allowed to store energy because profit is evil, then people freeze because there is no energy no matter how they are willing to pay for it.
