I thought it might be part of the "no-tax holiday" this month or that DeSantis was pausing them due to the hurricane. I wondered the same thing when I saw the "no tolls" on the Express Lanes.
Question: are the toll roads alternate routes to roads that were taken out by hurricane Ian? I'm not familiar with central Florida, but they did something similar in the panhandle when one of our main bridges was taken out by hurricane Sally. They suspended tolls on the alternate route bridge so we could still travel back and forth between Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
In the past, the Toll Authority cannot wait to get the tolls re-instated. I found it weird last night that they were still suspended and happened to see this article today.
We all know that toll roads are another huge area of corruption, so this gave me pause… DeSantis roughing up the elites again?
Reminds me of the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. Method of paying for the bridge was to institute a toll that would only last "until construction costs were paid for".
It's because we have an awesome governor!

Hope it last through the weekend, I have to drive from Jax to Apopka :)

Hmmm, good point. There are still some flooded roads and one is a major east/west route to I-95.
I have a pre Hurricane Toll and cannot pay online, sunpass system is down for days now. Going to have to call to pay

Too profitable a scam to get rid of apparently.
