Why are you promoting Shield boxes when Nvidia's logo is an All Seeing Eye and are nothing more than the precursor to the telescreens mentioned in Orwell's 1984?
P.S. I happen to own a pair of Shield TVs I purchased in 2017. They are great streaming devices but I would never recommend them as they're still going for $149-$199. Personally, I would buy a used mini-PC these days for under $100 and set it up as an HTPC (home theater PC). Likely will have more RAM, better emulation support, more storage and upgrade potential as well.
I don't care about the spying because I tell Google to fuck off and to directly quote me whenever I say something that would get me cancelled. Kek.
I'm not as techie as you and didn't know anything about Nvidia logo. It isnt a shield tv its a small 6" box hooked into my 13 year old Samsung TV with a cable. I don't know if that's different for spying.Just figured it's better than paying for cable monthly or netflix for trash and perpetuating the cable media which does more harm than a one time payment. Then you can watch literally whatever you want without giving them clicks or money. We've had our box 6 years for that one time fee. It updates apps through home pc and uses VPN.
Also aren't pcs sold by companies just as evil?
Everything sold to us is evil and spying on us so what's the difference? They've been able to hack you easily without knowing since early 90s. Pcs just as comp'd. No?
Bleg. The box is easy and minimal with no fees.
I was being sarcastic somewhat and added the P.S. for that reason.
But your answer is likely the same as those who still have a Netflix account. They didn't know.
Any Android box which is voice command capable is a listening device that Google can use to record the conversations in the room.
Even if there is no microphone, Google still harvests an incredible amount of information on viewing habits, etc.
Unless my wife and I were dumping our smart phones, though, it really doesn't make a difference. Google listens through those as well.
Well they know how much I hate them then.
It's still better than cable or a Netflix sub. At least we aren't paying them over and over, no commercials and they've learned our watching habits are old old movies and little house on the prairie and Mr. Roger's and rompa room. Lol.
