That is beautiful, you have a loyal friend for life with Lucy!
Most parrots are very interested in what their humans are doing. It can be very interesting to observe that bond!
I don't have pet birds, but I feed the local wild ones. Often I'll be holding 2 trays, feeding a pair of scaley breasted lorrikets,1 or 2 Australian King parrots, while on the ground there is about 25 rainbow lorrikets and the resident pair of galahs.
The galahs are funny. When they need a bit more food (sunflower seeds) the female will walk over and start to chew on the toe of my boots. They always let me know what they want!
Galahs are the most wide spread parrots in Australia and they often will eat crops like wheat, barley ect. When farmers are grain feeding sheep and cattle, the galahs and other parrots ( Major Mitchell cockatoos, sulphur crested cocktails, corellas ect) will have a great time eating the stock food, much to the farmer's displeasure!
That's the reason that those birds are considered to be pests. There are millions of them and their populations are pretty safe. They are born survivors, tolerating droughts, floods, bushfires and what ever nature and humans throw at them.
Lucy is a fortunate little girl to have a human like you! Have a good life together!
