The loss of labor and manpower would be catastrophic. No oil, manufacture, food/farming, construction, defense. We would be easy easy pickings for other powers: drug cartels, CCP, Russians etc.
Plus we still have a shit ton of weapons in the hands of ordinary citizens constituting what the UN defines as the largest militia in the world, infact, it is a militia that outnumbers and out guns every other defined militia and military, regular and irregular in the world, combined.
That's not counting National Guard, which is also us, and active duty which is also us.
I don't buy into America is vulnerable narratives at all. We are the 3rd most populated nation in the world, our resources, though mismanaged for a time, are substantial.
The only thing we are vulnerable to is the enemy within our walls.
You are absolutely right.
I know we can produce a lot of food and we have oil. I thought we would only have one problem, clothing. Then I traveled and saw all the cotton being produced. No problem there either.
Only problem for us is the treasonous snakes that would swing wide the gates to the enemies.
