Isn't this done any more? I worked for a radio station that was sold years ago. We all had to apply for our jobs in order to keep them. Some people didn't get rehired.
I heard of this a couple times in the 90's, but not since. My guess is in general people these days are such full blown pussies, is an action like this would freak everyone out, all of Social Media would blow up and the company would be "cancelled". We need a reset badly, people need to grow up and get a pair.
It's happened many times since.
Similarly, the sister in law had company bought out, she was no longer eligible to hire at her old job--her location was the reason I think, had to try to find something.
