We keep being told this so I decided to look up whether the number 17 has any significance in the Bible, and this was the very first thing that came up.

Another thing that always struck me about the number 17 is that the next number, 18, is equal to 6+6+6 (666). I wonder if that might be a deliberate nod from Q - as in, 18 could be seen to represent the satanic abyss we were headed towards, and Q is represented by 17 because the Q plan is designed to come in at the eleventh hour and stop us just short of reaching 18. Q will bring us to the precipice of 18, but will ultimately stop us from plunging into it.
