I work in commuter rail. It's the same here, treated like crap by both management and the public. And our "union". In fact the last contract we had expired in 2016. We haven't seen a raise in all that time, and the raises in that contract were $500 lump, 0.5 and 0.5% over 3 years. We can't strike under state law.
It's probably the same with the freight guys. Ask any rider out here and their attitude is that the workers are uneducated and undeserving of making a living. If there is a strike, they're curse the workers, not the powers in charge.
