It was her hating of the people -- some she had met (friends of mine) but didn't know they were Catholics, truly bothered me.

I agree- hate the sin, not the sinner, but these wonderful people were being thrust into the sinner bucket, while at the same time, she's calling herself a Christian.

Very, very odd.
