Agree and while the author leans socialist based on some comments it is a piece zoomed out in scope and time to understand what is most likely happening as opposed to Putin a madman wanting to restore USSR

A very good rescue. And it is always interesting to to projections of the past in the current state of affairs to note the differences and why these projections were wrong.
