REDCON and DEFCON both work in reverse with 1 being highest alert.

REDCON / DEFCON are also not indicators of action, but footings.

Nothing happens until after REDCON 1. REDCON 1 just means your weapon is chambered, with a mag, and you're ready to move out in seconds. Everything in position, for the mission.

It's after THAT when you finally roll out, leave the wire and start your infiltration into the heart of enemy territory.
