Hilarious if real, but terminations usually include a ton of legal notification paperwork. In the USA that would include COBRA options, some severance notification (none, some, bigly), something to sign to receive severance...
The lack of the more traditional details or even indication of how more details would be sent tells me this is fun meme fodder.
I was a doctoral student in business administration, leadership, with military leadership experience. There's plenty of so-called "waste" in Twitter's pay, benefits, perks and organizational structure to suggest fraud. I strongly suspect influence behind Twitter's leadership was manipulating board decisions to defraud shareholders. My suspicion is that the entire organization had been turned to groom individuals for future cooperation outside the organization or to grease international elitist families by pampering their younger members.
Whatever the specifics of the fraud were, no business just wastes resources that way. Even just the alleged management structure is insanely "broken", if not designed as a financial kickback to begin with. Any real multinational would have used change specialists to restructure, probably more than once during Twitter's life cycle.
