What signature do they compare your signature to when voting in person? The previous time you voted and signed? My name is really long so I have various ways I sign my name!

I think it's from your drivers license signature.
The one you used on your signature/ voting card.
Cool. So when I registered as a Republican and got the card in the mail. I’ll have to dig that up.
The signature you used when you registered is not printed on the card. The cards have a signature space but the signature on file is how you signed when you registered. If you vote in person most states use your driver's license or other gov't ID to verify identity at the time you vote. Voter registration cards are accepted in the absence of gov't issued photo ID.
Huh. When I roll into my place of voting they have tables set up and you have to find the table that has your name on file which goes by street. You sign a little tab in a binder, and then they give you a ballot and point you to some standing desks with dividers. You fill out your ballot, and when done they point you towards a scanner deal sitting on top a bin that I assume takes a picture and reads your ballot.
We have to show some form of ID.
