Imagine if the cops waited for every rape, murder, and bank robbery to occur, watched them, and cataloged evidence but never did anything.

"But we had to catch them all! Murder has been happening for 2000 years, it's an evil system," said the white hats. Well that's great, but if you had evidence that the crimes were going to happen and you didn't try to stop them, guess what? You're not a white hat anymore.
