In American passports, the message is in English, French, and Spanish. The message reads:
In English:
The Secretary of State of the United States of America hereby requests all whom it may concern to permit the citizen/national of the United States named herein to pass without delay or hindrance and in case of need to give all lawful aid and protection.
First, by providing for the common defense of the people. Can't have anything you can't defend.
Once that's taken care of, by having principles agreeable to by other nations. Coincidentally makes the defense much easier.
So your principles need to be based on values that are universal to just men. That there is a creator, and that he cares for his children, and wants them to prosper. Therefore do no harm to your neighbor, nor to his property. If you do, make full amends. Common law.
If you can do all that other nations will have no problem emulating you, much less accepting your right to exist.
