4chan gets a fuckton of shit. Most of it unfairly. Yes, it lives up to the moniker of the asshole of the internet, but if you actually spend time around it you realize that it's a microcosm of humanity so condensed, for most it's a very harsh place. Once you get over the veneer of viciousness, you see humour of all stripes, and if you understand that humour, and it's whims, you can get an ACTUAL gauge of society. In future years, I expect digital archeologists view 4chan as a place of extreme idiocy and brilliance, in equal measure.
