Any suggestions or ideas to avoid mandatory vaccines such as yellow fever for travel to Africa? I have a friend going who is trying to get a visa but isn’t able to without this stupid vaccine.

Well I hate to say this, but I think that might be a long-standing vaccine that actually works. You might not want to be in Africa, and get yellow fever. Can you imagine the lack of medical care that you would get. This might be some type of a necessity, that would be worth looking into regarding the vaccine itself, and its efficacy.
Whatever… I think that you should go to Africa and get yellow fever then.
A friend of mine - journalist - took a yellow fever vax to travel to Africa. He never got there. The vax affected his brain and drove him crazy. He recovered after a couple of years but lost his contract with the BBC. He wrote a book "Malcolm is a Little Unwell", which was published via Amazon.
I had a Kindle copy but it has vanished from my Kindle and computers. He also produced a video of the same name, which is now "unavailable" but still listed on Amazon. I guess he did a deal with the vax manufacturers and part of the deal was to cease selling and delete all copies.
I'm somewhat bummed because I paid $14.95 for that book!
