I don't usually comment on plane fagging because it's highly nuanced and there are answers, usually easy ones for military flights over the US, BUT... this is something I've never seen before and is beyond the highly unusual mark. There is something going on and it's big. There are flights up, but no transponders are reporting.
It was like that the other day post election. Nothing transponding..in a time frame I'd have plus 200 on screen..gives a creepy vibe. But so did the 2 B52 doomsday machines up a few weeks back pacing up around the great lakes. How often do you see 2 of those in the same place n time operating?
Right...has this EVER happened before, since planes became a part of the military? I am sure SOMETHING is up there, but has every single transponder been turned off ever before?
No, I will say I am around a VERY large military base, and they have planes coming and going all the time and every single one has its transponder on. They NEVER turn them off in civilian controlled airspace because of commercial and private air traffic. Over military reservations, yes, I've seen them go dark.
