I’m in the US, but I can venture a guess
World War I had a tremendous impact on the European consciousness. It finalized the death of much of traditional Europe - nationalism, religion, art, etc. - and accelerated the rise of modernism and post-modernism. Among its casualties was firearms culture, which hitherto had been well and alive in places like Britain.
By contrast, World War I was never brought to American soil. We had a near-peer war, the Civil War, but it was about 50 years prior, and not perceived as “senseless” like the Great War. Add onto that a very strong culture of firearms, and we can begin to make sense of why America was largely spared the European fate.
We haven’t been invaded BECAUSE we have guns.
The gigantic bodies of water between us and the rest of the world also helped, I think.
You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.
