You could but think about it from the other side. Consider the country roughly split 50/50 between D and R. The D's stick together with very rare exceptions, like Tulsi Gabbard. The R's on the other hand are a problem. Looking at their records and public statements, I'd say 30% of the R's are loyal to MAGA. 20% are not. Herein lies the problem. Those 20% are RINOS and Never Trumpers and probably compromised in one way or another. That makes them more likely to stand with the D's on many issues. These 20% will be added to the D side of the scale. This leaves the military looking at the country where all the D's and 20% of the R would be against intervention in the election.
Under these conditions, do you think the military would stand with 30% of the population and charge any of the 70% with a crime? It would be the right thing to do from our perspective but they don't want to end up being charged with the same treason they're trying to charge members of the 70% with. It would be seen as an illegal coup without support from the majority of the public. They also think about their budget and how a move like that would impact them.
I hate this situation and trying to think a way through the mess. No matter what, if these 20% ever run for re-election again, we need to apply maximum effort to get them voted out and MAGA voted in.
It would take a clean election, (what's that?) to know for certain but I'm talking about voter registration. People generally vote their party. So if 10% were independents I'd say the rest would be fairly close to 45/45. I'd like to see an honest statistic that shows voter registration breakdown for entire country in 2022.
