I posted the following in the comment section (I should have cut and pasted it, but it's essentially what is below), but it was rejected because it "didn't meet community standards":
Why is it that if a man is born John Smith, and later decides he is not John Smith, but Napolean (or any famous person), he is deemed mentally ill, but if a man is born John Smith, and later decides he is not a man, but a woman, and changes his name to Johanna Smith, and changes his appearance to that of a woman, and maybe even has surgery to complete the change, he is not deemed mentally ill?
