It felt like we were told to marathon run west, but weren’t told how long. After miles and miles of grueling running jn the sun, we came upon a steep hill. It was quite a climb, but this had to be it, this had to be the last bit of exhausting work before we’d have our victory party on the summit… because why not?
That hill’s name was 2020. They called it J6 peak.
And as you all know, there was no party to be had on that particular hill, perhaps small insider celebrations about having made it all this way, but it was clear we weren’t done yet. Some still thought it was, but as we made our way down the hill the other side, it gradually settled in for everyone that we still had a way to go.
So much longer and so much more to weather. We even got hit by a hail storm the size of vax needles and some of our loved ones who weren’t looking out actually died. Surely our torment has to be over soon.
Coming up on another very tall hill, it just felt appropriate for it to be done here. Rumblings in the group about how there’d be catering and chairs and movies planted a seed of hope that was watered very well when we saw the “Normies are starting to wake the fuck up Incorporated” brand catering van, and the “Space Force just needed three elections of fraud” brand furniture truck, followed by the “With this FTX scandal breaking, the dems are fucking DONE” licensed mobile movie theater came driving by us and up the hill. Strange names for businesses, but if they were indeed going to park at the hill ahead of us, well, that’s just more hopium for a happening. The Brazilian running group even said they’d race us there.
That hill’s name is 2022 midterms, and we’re just about done running off of it. No catering, no chairs, no movies. Our Brazilbros are here with us though!
So am I disappointed? I was a bit last night, but it was more of a hopium slump. This isn’t our first hill, and we’re not even sure the next hill (more of a mountain) will be it. Heck, it makes more sense for it to happen not on a hill at all so no one sees it coming. I’m going to take a short break and get back to running in a bit, I’ll catch up with you guys. Not dooming, just got caught up in the moment hoping for a happening that was sooner.
Thanks for reading if you made it all the way through.
Here’s my cry corner post.
