If the Supreme Court had reviewed 2020 election fraud in 2021 or earlier in 2022... a finding of systemic fraud would have overturned nearly ALL elections nationally. Mayor, Governor, House and Senate, State Legislators, Judge elections, etc... all the way down the ticket in nearly every state. Fraud vitiates everything. It may have also greatly affected the 2022 mid-term elections.
However, by waiting until after the 2022 mid-term, ONLY the presidency (Biden / Harris) is affected by a finding of 2020 electoral fraud along with up to 33 Senators and a few Governors.
All the other positions have had a NEW election since then, so anything done prior is already moot. The Supreme Court decision doesn't affect any State, County or City elections, nor any House races or the majority of the Senate. It mainly affects the Biden Presidency and possibly a few other races to be reviewed.
Maybe there's a reason why Trump said he is announcing his Candidacy for President, but he didn't say "in 2024". Just that he is a Candidate for President. If fraud vitiates that election, the Supreme Court may order a NEW national presidential election, involving only those who were registered candidates in 2020.
In that case, Trump's speech about having the elections in 1 day only, paper ballots and results immediately tallied after the election (no mail in, no drop boxes) would fit right in. Just a thought. It might explain why the SCOTUS would wait until after mid-term to review 2020.
Interesting point; however, wouldn't it be nice to see some contingency plans from Republicans other than sitting back and watching helplessly for election after election to be stolen?
