I think the most interesting part is HOW they chose to FF. If they thought Trump was going to drop the MOAB last night, I doubt a few Russian missiles would distract from that, but I could see it being used to greater effect in tying Putin to Trump at that moment. Why?

I think they were ready to have an emergency live press brief to override Trump's speech at that time, maybe with WWIII overtures. Maybe a limited airstrike on Russia. Just to take all eyes away from Trump.
