I'd say Twitter was a payoff place for antifa members. And Elon is exposing the fact that it doesn't need to take so many to run the company.

So why is the company still doing just fine (ignoring what the lying media is stating) regardless of thousands of employees being fired/quiting? Probably because, being an 'employee' at Twitter was just a front for something else.
