Someone here said turkeys were horribly expensive where they live. Right now, Walmart has Honeysuckle White (I think they're much better than Butterball and have less sodium) for 99 cents a lb. Food Lion has Shady Brook Farms turkeys for 39 cents a pound. The store near me didn't have a lot left but it's a small store. Martins Foods (aka Giant in Pa. but not the same store as Giant Food in Virginia) has free Shady Brook Farms turkeys if you have 400 points in their rewards program. You can earn that many in one visit if you sign up and do two or three of their bonus points specials for the week. You can get another brand for $1 off if you don't want Shady Brook with your points.
Hope this helps if you're having trouble getting a turkey.
We get a free Turkey from Shoprite every year for members.
I just picked up my free 18 lbs turkey from ShopRite today. If you spend $400 between certain dates (easy to do nowadays), you get a free what is called a ShopRite turkey.
