Someone here said turkeys were horribly expensive where they live. Right now, Walmart has Honeysuckle White (I think they're much better than Butterball and have less sodium) for 99 cents a lb. Food Lion has Shady Brook Farms turkeys for 39 cents a pound. The store near me didn't have a lot left but it's a small store. Martins Foods (aka Giant in Pa. but not the same store as Giant Food in Virginia) has free Shady Brook Farms turkeys if you have 400 points in their rewards program. You can earn that many in one visit if you sign up and do two or three of their bonus points specials for the week. You can get another brand for $1 off if you don't want Shady Brook with your points.
Hope this helps if you're having trouble getting a turkey.
Food Lion here in northeastern NC had store brand turkeys for 29 cents a pound. Even the Butterball turkeys weren't very expensive, and there were plenty of them.
I don't really like turkey. I'd rather have a baked chicken. I think we'll pick up a couple of those rotisserie chickens at Food Lion.
I love turkey but rotisserie chicken is good too.
They might be gone Wednesday, so we'll pick up a couple on Tuesday. They will keep till Thursday.
