Not entirely true. The Chinese were already fighting the Japanese from July 7th 1937 before the Americans finally entered the Pacific battle front after December 7th 1941. Japan's supply line was already stretched by then. When the Americans entered the war, it tipped the scale (especially after the Doolittle Raid).
