McCarthy was smart in that he Found MTG's price and paid it so she can get on Bannon's war room and pitch the fear porn to the posse. He Knows If he can flip Bannon to his side most will follow.
McCarthy is making lots of backroom deals with conservatives to secure the gavel. It is called politics and that is how the game is played on the hill. We don't have to like it but all this arm twisting may actually get us some committee chairs and investigations. Allowing the MAGA people to have a bit more control is the price McCarthy is willing to pay.
But will MAGA lawmakers Really Have Any Power when their investigations roll over stones that McCarthy and the UniParty want to remain Hidden from public view? Kevin McCarthy can Not be trusted with this power!
It is not about whether he can be trusted or not - of course he can't be trusted. But, there are not enough MAGA people in the House to run the show. We have some power, but not enough. If MAGA gets their heels dug in too much, the Dems and a few RINOs could actually install their own Speaker. Therefore, MAGA is going to have to make some deals - like it or or not.
