Our favorite number used this term often. I've been thinking...
Instead of trying to "one up" a left during a debate, let's start asking:
"Help me reconcile this" - and then lay out the facts. It may help to break through the barrier of blissful ignorance, which is what I seem to encounter quite often. Much more so then hatred. The hatred is online, it's superficial. My neighbors, friends, family, people I meet, aren't my enemy. In fact they're all pretty cool, and I live in a blue area in VA. And I've never met anyone who isn't family orientated and willing to work hard to better their family and situation. Of course there's always outliers.
But do you all notice the same thing? Especially after a celebratory holiday like Thanksgiving? It's not we that hate one another, it's them that hate us.
In reminder, ask your neighbor, friend, family member, a stranger.... "Can you reconcile this?"
I'm thinking of young people in my family who were indoctrinated and poorly educated by public schools.
I feel you. It's hard to breakthrough to those you love. This may help, it's why I wrote those words. I am encountering the same "wall." It's the breakthrough part I think we need to focus on, not the complete dumping of factual evidence all at once, which is what feels right in the sense you are trying to save someone. We need to start fighting back intellectually now. We've dumped the facts for years. It's time to do what we've been called upon to do... Which is guide. Jesus helps with this, in reference to how to guide and teach. Peace be with you 😌
I think you are quite right to phrase it as a peaceful question.
