Leave it to ashlanddong to share a story about a dog who wouldn't watch TV. <3 Given that this story is from 30 years ago, the TV in question was almost certainly a CRT. These cathode ray tube televisions generate a 15.7kHz buzz that some humans and most dogs can hear. So a TV would be regarded as a source of obnoxious noise.

The new 4K units make baller computer monitors. I'm keeping mine, but I don't watch TV on it.
TV switches off the brain.
