FACT: George Washington he lost more battles than he won. Although he lost the Battle of Germantown (400 dead, including the entire 9th Virginia Regiment) he won at the Battles of Trenton in 1776 and Yorktown in 1781. That's FIVE YEARS between victories. WE ARE HERE FOR THE LONG HAUL, CUPCAKES! #LFG

My grandmother was the president of the DAR in Studio City, California, she did a full genealogy on our family, and we are actually related to George Washington! I wear that badge proudly! Iโve always wanted to gather family members together, and other patriots, and cross the Delaware together one day.
Do it! What a wonderful tribute that would be and how amazing to do it with family! Then, you all need to visit Mount Vernon! ๐๐บ๐ธ๐
Yes, I think it would be a glorious event, indeed!
Sure would!
Any idea how I could do that without giving my DNA to people that would use it for bad purposes?
Genealogy. Follow the records. Ancestry has images of millions of original records, plus newspapers, books, and trees done by other people. But you have to watch those trees. I'm a professional, and I've seen very few trees out of thousands that didn't have egregious errors. There's also the Mormon site, FamilySearch.
One of my uncles way back in the 1800s was a Washington and a cousin of George Washington.
When my grandmother did the genealogy, it was all done by paper. She had to do tons of research, and Iโm not even sure how she did it all, but she did. Back in the day I think they kept more accurate, paper records, especially through the church, if you were Catholic, but to be perfectly honest, you may have to Google to find out how to do your own research through actual paper records. Best wishes to you on that endeavor. I will say that Iโm very grateful that she did that so many years ago, itโs just a great feeling.
