I would 'LOVE' it. I enjoy the great outdoors and I know that 'camping' is totally different from living off the land; but I believe I could do it. You can't keep someone down who is determined to survive. And I'm a fighter. Besides, I prefer the old-fashioned way of doing things instead of the modern way. I love fireplaces, warm-morning stoves, wood burning cook stoves, washing dishes in a dishpan with water heated on that wood burning stove. Coal oil lamps, quilts piled high on a feather tick mattress. Hoeing gardens, canning veggies, picking wild blackberries, poke salad and wild asparagus. I LOVE THOSE DAYS AND THOSE WAYS. PROGRESS ain't all it's cut out to be.
Practical experience, good for the soul.
It pays to pay attention to grandparents. They have a lot of knowledge locked in those brains from years of hard living. May they rest in peace.
I only had 1 blood grandparent. My mom's mom. I had a step grandfather who was a farmer. They taught me alot. My father's parents died before he married my mother. He was the baby boy of a family of 9. My mother was the oldest of 5. I suppose that's why their parents lived and died as they did. If you get what I mean. I lived with my grandma for some time. She was Irish/Cherokee. When she died, it was as if I lost my own mother. She was my everything.
