And, no, c5 didn't sticky his own post. I did...at the request of one of you. 😁

maybe check this, there are articles saying it only lasted 12 hours
It's all about content and has nothing to do with the poster. You post something brilliant, we will sticky it. You see someone else with a brilliant post, request that a mod sticky it. If it's that good, we will sticky it. It's that simple.
It's eyes on the prize, pedes. Too many frogs get hung up on stickies and updoots. We're not here to hand out participation trophies -- that's for leftists. We're here to defeat the DS.
WWG1WGA!
Brent, apparently some users are under the impression that stickies are generated automatically via some algorithm, and they think that if a mod posts something and stickies it, that they are pretending that "their" content is more important. Which I can see.
Except... that's not true. All stickies are manual decisions by the mods. All of them.
BTW, when I sticky something of mine, it's USUALLY a post that was seriously on Q or seriously breaking news and was doing super-well over at PW. That's on you guys. Get to work, frogs! We have a reputation to maintain! WE ARE TEH NEWS! THIS POST HAD OVER 1000 UPDOOTS ON PW BEFORE I FOUND IT AND SCRAPED IT OVER HERE! That's embarrassing to me as lead mod here, c'mon, guys! LET'S GOOOO
If it's all about content than why are there a few posters that forum slide every single day, making dozens of posts within an hour with the same content that's already been discussed multiple times? Can't they just make a single post that doesn't clog up pages of the new section?
When you see this, report it. Mods are only human, too. Sometimes we're busy dealing with other issues and miss things. if you want to see what we're doing, visit the modlog. A lot goes on behind the scenes to give you the best user experience that we can.
I think a lot of people would miss seeing important posts because they often get buried as it is. Especially since certain people post a dozen new posts at once, without even checking to see if those things are already being discussed
We get a few hundred posts per day. Right now what the mod team does is sticky a post that's good, then let it get enough votes so that it gets into /RISING, and then we un-sticky it.
Then why don't you encourage posters like Ashlanddog and purkiss to bundle all those dozens of posts into one? Most of the time they just post a link to something that was covered a hundred times already, then it causes forum sliding which is against the sidebar rules.
Ashlanddog even has a personal sticky every single day that barely gets any comments...
Ash puts his posts into a digest, but I do still remove a ton of his posts. We mods have had chats with each of the users you've mentioned and asked them to come up with something, but, hey. Everyone here works for free. I can't hire anyone or fire anyone.
They have no reason to listen to me.
