It's all about content and has nothing to do with the poster. You post something brilliant, we will sticky it. You see someone else with a brilliant post, request that a mod sticky it. If it's that good, we will sticky it. It's that simple.
It's eyes on the prize, pedes. Too many frogs get hung up on stickies and updoots. We're not here to hand out participation trophies -- that's for leftists. We're here to defeat the DS.
WWG1WGA!
Brent, apparently some users are under the impression that stickies are generated automatically via some algorithm, and they think that if a mod posts something and stickies it, that they are pretending that "their" content is more important. Which I can see.
Except... that's not true. All stickies are manual decisions by the mods. All of them.
BTW, when I sticky something of mine, it's USUALLY a post that was seriously on Q or seriously breaking news and was doing super-well over at PW. That's on you guys. Get to work, frogs! We have a reputation to maintain! WE ARE TEH NEWS! THIS POST HAD OVER 1000 UPDOOTS ON PW BEFORE I FOUND IT AND SCRAPED IT OVER HERE! That's embarrassing to me as lead mod here, c'mon, guys! LET'S GOOOO
If it's all about content than why are there a few posters that forum slide every single day, making dozens of posts within an hour with the same content that's already been discussed multiple times? Can't they just make a single post that doesn't clog up pages of the new section?
When you see this, report it. Mods are only human, too. Sometimes we're busy dealing with other issues and miss things. if you want to see what we're doing, visit the modlog. A lot goes on behind the scenes to give you the best user experience that we can.
How can you miss it when it happens literally every day? Can't you just tell those posters to make a megathread for themselves or has that already been mentioned?
It's been mentioned.
